Advanced Beginner
In this class we will design variations in placemats by simply changing the weft color order.
We will be using a pattern called Color and Weave Placemats
written by Christine Jablonski.
Equipment needed:
Loom – 16″ Rigid Heddle Loom or larger
Reed – 12 or 12.5 dent
Shuttles – 2 stick shuttles
Yarn will be provided. You can choose color A and Color B
Warp – Beam 3/2 organic cotton – 330 yards Color A , Color B – 170 yds
Weft – Beam 3/2 organic cotton – 150 yds Color A, Color B 150 yards
Specifications
We will be working in the color and weave process to create 4 placemats using the color A and Color B you select.
Each placemat will finish at 12” wide by 16” long, using a hemstitch and 1” fringe on each side.
Care: Machine wash cold, tumble dry low and press as needed.
Skill Level–
Advanced beginner. This means you have warped your loom at least one time before this class. We will spend time warping for this project as a refresher.
You should know some vocabulary words such as warp and weft, stick shuttles, selvages and reed.
We will be teaching the color and weave technique, hem stitch, fringe, how to load and weave 4 placemats. Also we will teach how to remove your project from the loom and cut apart.
Class Schedule:
Meet for learning Wednesdays 11:00 – 2:00 January 21, 28 and February 4
Cost: $185 includes class, pattern and weavers yarn included
You will be making 4 placemats measuring finishing at 12″ X 16″,including hemstitch and fringe.
Warp and weft yarn provided for you to use : Bean 3/2 100% organic cotton, We have one cone of many colors.

* Bring your 24″ Rigid heddle loom or larger with accessories, (warping peg, 24 inch stick shuttle or longer )
*12 dent heddle, if you are not sure then measure the spaces 1 inch should have 12 spaces
*separators -can be cardboard, paper or scrap yarn to separate the yarn on the beam (it’s ok we’ll get you started)
*weaving hook that fits through the 12 dent heddle
*scissors
*tape measure
clips or pins
